AI accelerates investigation; it does not independently authenticate an artwork, establish ownership, certify provenance or issue a CEPS certificate.
C2PA
C2PA evidence concerns digital provenance and integrity. A valid C2PA result does not by itself establish historical authenticity, ownership or CEPS certification. Missing C2PA is not, by itself, evidence that an artwork is inauthentic.
Evidence Strength
CEPS Evidence Strength describes the strength and completeness of the available evidence. It is not a probability that an artwork is genuine.
Verification
Formal verification remains a human-governed CEPS process with defined scope, evidence review, attribution and audit history.
